Run Morehead 5K

Run Morehead 5K is the sixth annual community race held on July 3, 2026. The event is listed at Rowan County Arts Center, 205 East Main Street, Morehead, KY 40351, and features a downtown route through the heart of Morehead.

The in-person event is a chip-timed 5K on paved roadway surfaces that welcomes runners, walkers, strollers, and dogs on fixed length leashes. A virtual runner/walker option for 3.1 miles is available; virtual entries include mailing of a race shirt and finisher medal. Participants receive a commemorative race shirt and finisher medal. Registration opens March 1, 2026. Fees listed are $25.00 for the 5K run/walk and $30.00 for the virtual runner/walker.

The event notes a closed scenic course through downtown, free race photos, music and food before and after the race, and chip timing by RaceRise. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in age groups 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. Proceeds benefit the Shop With A Cop program. Packet pickup is available the day before at the Morehead Police Department and the day of at the Battson-Oates Entertainment Area.
