Run From Away Marathon
The Run From Away Marathon takes place in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador. The event features a unique start line located on the tarmac of the Gander International Airport and finishes at the Gander Track & Field facility. The course is a net downhill route, fully marked and marshalled for participants.
Registration is available for three different distances with specific entry caps:
- Marathon (175 spots)
- Half Marathon (375 spots)
- 5 km (200 spots)
Time limits are strictly enforced, with 6 hours allowed for both the marathon and half marathon, and 1 hour 15 minutes for the 5 km. Walkers are permitted specifically in the 5 km event. For safety reasons and in accordance with NLAA rules, the use of headphones or earbuds is prohibited. The minimum age for the marathon is 18, while half marathon participants must be at least 16 years old.
Logistical support includes free shuttle bus transportation between the start and finish lines, along with a bag drop service. Medical support and water stations are positioned along the course. Race kits and bibs must be picked up at the Gander International Airport International Lounge on the Thursday or Friday before the event, as there is no kit pick-up on race day.
Participants receive a bib with chip timing, a finisher’s medal, a race kit, and post-race refreshments. An optional pre-race pasta dinner is available for purchase on the Friday evening. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
