Run for the Paws 5k Run/Walk
Run for the Paws is a community event at Madisonville City Park, playground area, on June 6, 2026. The event raises funds for the Hopkins County Humane Society to support medical care, shelter operations, and long-term rebuilding of a permanent facility after the loss of the previous shelter. The organization also completed updates to a temporary shelter that will be operational in February.
Distances included:
- 5 km Over 18, Under 18, and Virtual 5k options
- 0.25 miles Kids fun run for ages under 12
Registration opens January 21 and closes June 5. Fees are listed by category: $30 for Over 18 and Virtual 5k, $20 for Under 18 5k, and $10 for the Kids fun run. To be guaranteed a race T-shirt registrants must register before May 15. Online registration remains available until June 5. Packet pick-up is scheduled on June 5 and on race morning at the playground area; same day registration is available at those times for cash only.
The event welcomes strollers and leashed dogs with the request that walkers, strollers, and dogs start behind runners and owners clean up after pets. Prizes are awarded in multiple categories including overall and age groups plus first dog and first stroller. Donations of pet food, blankets, and cleaning supplies are accepted.
