Run for the Girls
The 6th Annual "Run for the Girls" takes place June 6, 2026 at the Greg Smith River Trail, 121 Riverfront Drive, Fort Smith, AR. The event consists of an in-person 5K run, an in-person 5K walk, a virtual 5K, and family fun activities.
In-person entries have a registration fee of $35.00; the virtual 5K fee is $25.00; family fun activities are free. General registration opens February 2, 2026 and closes June 6, 2026. T-shirts are available for entrants who register before May 24, 2026.
The 5K course is chip-timed and USATF certified. In-person participants receive a swag bag, t-shirt, finisher medal, and a chipped bib as part of event participation.
The event is a fundraiser for the Girls Shelter of Fort Smith, Inc. The shelter is a residential treatment facility licensed for eight girls aged 12 to 17. Its stated mission is to provide a safe residential setting that promotes positive behaviors, educational advancement, life skills, and family reunification. Services noted include teaching social and independent living skills, job skills and money management, individual treatment plans, counseling, case management, and provision of basic needs such as housing, food, transportation, and clothing.
