Run for the Girls 5K Run
"Run for the Girls" is a community event on June 6, 2026, at Greg Smith River Trail in Fort Smith, AR. The program includes an in-person 5K run, an in-person 5K walk, a virtual 5K option, and family fun activities. The in-person 5K course is chip-timed and USATF certified.
Entry fees are listed per event type: in-person events carry a fee of $35.00 and the virtual 5K carries a fee of $25.00. Family fun activities are free. Participants in the in-person run and walk receive a swag bag, a t-shirt, a finisher medal, and a chipped bib. T-shirts are provided to entrants who register before May 24, 2026. Early packet pickup is available on June 5 at True Grit Running Company, 6808 Rogers Ave.
The event is presented as a fundraiser for the Girls Shelter of Fort Smith, Inc. The shelter operates as a residential treatment program for females aged 12 to 17 and is licensed for eight residents. Services described include individual and family counseling, case management, instruction in social and independent living skills, job skills and money management through summer work, and support aimed at educational participation and family reunification.
