Run For The Brains!
Run For The Brains is a community running and walking event at Shumway Oak Grove Regional Park in Stockton, California on October 31, 2026. The weekend includes in-person and virtual options and activities aimed at raising funds and awareness for stroke recovery and brain health.
Distances and event types include:
- 1K Survivor Champion Walk : around the lake at Shumway Oak Grove Park; free entry.
- 5K : closed course starting near the Oaks Pavilion; community themed activities; $35 entry.
- 10K (Double Loop) : same course as the 5K run twice; $35 entry.
- Virtual 5K : complete between October 30 and November 1 and submit activity screenshots; $35 entry.
- Little Zombie 1K (12 & under) : youth 1K; $10 entry.
The 5K and 10K courses start near the Oaks Pavilion and head south toward the nature trail before returning to the finish area. Finish-area features listed by the organizer include themed music, trick-or-treating, a thriller dance competition, and community giveaways. The Survivor Champion Walk is offered for stroke survivors and others recovering from brain injury and is described as accessible at varying levels of ability.
Packet pickup location and race awards are provided by the organizers. In-person 5K and 10K results include overall male and female winners across standard age-group categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
