20th Annual Run for Riley 5 Mile & 5K
The Fort Wayne Running Club organizes the 20th Annual Run for Riley, supported by ProFed Credit Union. The event includes two chip timed races that raise funds for Riley Children's Hospital.
Participants choose between these distances:
- 5 Miles chip timed event
- 5K chip timed event
Both events begin at Maple Creek Middle School and use the paved trails of the Fort Wayne Greenway. The course splits so 5 Mile and 5K participants follow different routes, and this year the route includes new trails in front of the school.
Packet pickup is available the day before at Fleet Feet North Store on Dupont Road and on race day in the school cafeteria. A silent auction is held before the races and all auction proceeds go directly to the Riley foundation; the auction ends at the beginning of the race so finishers can check results.
After the races the 5 Mile awards are presented in the school cafeteria and the event includes snacks and treats. The organizer announces the donation total to Riley Hospital at the conclusion of the event.
