Run For Hope
The Run For Hope takes place in the Village of Coal Valley, featuring a route that winds through scenic neighborhoods. This event focuses on honoring and celebrating community members impacted by cancer. Participants can choose between different running and walking distances on a course starting at the location known as The Rock.
The event offers several participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk (Age 16 and older)
- 5K Run/Walk (Youth 15 and under)
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run (Age 16 and older)
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run (Age 15 and under)
- Sleep-In/Chip-In (Shirt only option)
Participants receive custom race bibs that allow them to indicate who they are running for. There is also an option to honor loved ones with personalized yard signs placed along the race route. These signs may represent those currently living with cancer, survivors, or those lost to the disease. After the event, participants may collect these signs to keep.
The event includes the Purina Doggy Dash, allowing participants to run with their dogs. Those who choose this option may receive a commemorative doggie bandana for their pet for an additional fee. Awards are presented for the overall 5K men's and women's champions, as well as survivor champions. Age group awards are available in five-year increments for participants aged 14 to 75.
