Rooster Run Walk
The Rooster Run Walk is an annual athletic event held at the Canfield Fairgrounds in Canfield, Ohio. Organized by the Mahoning County Junior Fair, the event takes place on the fairgrounds located at 7265 Columbiana-Canfield Road. The proceedings from the event are used to fund building and equipment improvements for the Mahoning County Junior Fair, including updates to various livestock pens to accommodate growing enrollment.
Participants can choose from multiple event distances and formats:
- 5K: A chip-timed running or walking race held on-site.
- 0.5 Miles: A short distance race known as the Duckling Dash for participants ages 12 and under.
- 5K (Virtual): A remote participation option for the 5K distance.
Registration for the 5K includes an event shirt, a commemorative finisher medal, and a chip-timed bib number. Participants in the on-site 5K and the 0.5 Miles Duckling Dash also receive a wristband for admission into the fair. The Duckling Dash registration provides a kids' finisher medal and a bib number.
GCXC Racing - Youngstown provides professional chip-timing for the races. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female winners in the 5K, as well as the top three finishers in several age groups ranging from 14 and under to 70 and over. Packet pick-up is available the day before the event at Boardman Fleet Feet or on the morning of the race at Gate F. Participants enter the grounds at Gate 9 and proceed to the Event Center near Gate F. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
