Event Information

The Rock ‘N Reef Trail Run is the fourth event in the Outer Limits Trail Run Series. It takes place in Bowen, a coastal town in the Whitsundays region of Queensland. The event date is Sunday, 28 June 2026. The start and finish location is Case Park on Horseshoe Bay Road.

Courses and Distances

The event offers three trail running distances. The courses feature coastal views, beaches, rocky headlands, and technical trail sections.

  • 6km: The course starts at Race HQ and goes through Edgecumbe Reserve. It passes Mother Beddock, descends to Murray Bay, and climbs to a WWII lookout before finishing along the Horseshoe Bay foreshore.
  • 10km: This route includes the 6km course but adds extra loops and a coasteering section along the headlands of Horseshoe Bay.
  • 18km: This is the longest course. It extends to Flagstaff Hill before returning and including a coasteering section. The terrain includes steep climbs, descents, rocky sections, and soft sand.

Entry and Fees

Registration opens on 1 December 2025 and closes on 27 June 2026. Entry fees are structured in early bird, general, and late entry periods. The costs are:

  • 6km: $40 to $55
  • 10km: $50 to $65
  • 18km: $60 to $75
  • Juniors (under 16, for short and medium distances only): $22 to $29

The minimum age to participate is 8 years for the short distance and 11 years for the longer distances. The entry fee includes a marked and marshalled course, electronic timing, a race bib, first aid support, on-course photography, post-race refreshments, and eligibility for series points and prizes.

Participant Information

All runners must sign in and collect their bib number at Event HQ on the morning of the race. Start times are staggered by distance. For the 10km and 18km distances, runners must carry mandatory gear, including compression bandages, a charged phone, a whistle, and a space blanket.
