Rock ‘N Reef Trail Run
Rock ‘N Reef Trail Run is a trail running event held in Bowen at Case Park on Horseshoe Bay Road. The event offers three course distances and a junior option.
- 6 km – short introductory trail
- 10 km – intermediate course with headland sections
- 18 km – extended route visiting Flagstaff Hill and beaches
The routes run through the Cape Edgecumbe Heights Recreation Reserve and include rocky and technical single track, steep climbs, stair sections, out and back segments, soft sand and sections of rock hopping or coasteering on the longer distances. Courses are marked with tape, signage and marshals, and key junctions show direction by distance. First aid support and a safety vehicle are provided on course. On course hydration and snack support is available but no cups are provided so runners should carry their own bottle. Professional electronic timing, on course photography and a bib plate with an electronic timing chip (kept by the runner) are included.
Registration opens 1 December 2025 and closes 27 June 2026 or earlier if sold out. Minimum ages are 8 years for short distances and 11 years for longer distances. Mandatory gear for the 10 km and 18 km routes includes two compression bandages, a fully charged waterproof phone, a whistle and a space blanket. Event officials may short course or remove competitors for safety reasons. The organisers acknowledge the Juru people as Traditional Owners of the land.
