Rock ‘N Reef Trail Run - Outer Limits
Rock ‘N Reef Trail Run takes place in Bowen at Case Park, Horseshoe Bay Road on 28 June 2026. It is the fourth event in the Outer Limits Trail Run Series and uses trails through the Cape Edgecumbe Heights Recreation Reserve and nearby beaches and headlands.
The courses include rocky and technical singletrack, stair sections, out-and-back segments to lookouts, soft sand on some sections and coastal rock hopping or coasteering in the longer distances. The route is fully marked with tape, signage and marshals at significant turns. First aid and on-course hydration support are provided.
Distances
- 6 km, short course via Mother Beddock and Horseshoe Bay foreshore
- 10 km, intermediate course with a coasteering section along headlands
- 18 km, extended course to Flagstaff Hill and additional coastal sections
Entry fees vary by distance: 6 km $40–$55, 10 km $50–$65, 18 km $60–$75, juniors $22–$29. Minimum ages are 8 years for short distances and 11 years for longer distances. Entry includes a marked, marshalled course, first aid support, on-course photography, professional electronic timing with a timing chip that competitors keep, on-course snacks and a post-race recovery station.
Mandatory gear for the 10 km and 18 km events must be carried and may be checked at sign in. Required items include two compression bandages, a fully charged waterproof phone, a whistle and a space blanket. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
