Rock Hawk Trail Races
The Rock Hawk Trail Races take place in Castle Rock, Colorado, utilizing the trail systems within Philip S. Miller Park and the Ridgeline Trail. The event features a variety of distances held on rolling terrain that offers views of the surrounding landscape. The trails are characterized as not overly technical, making the event a frequent choice for those looking to test their progress for longer summer events.
Participants can choose from four distinct distance options:
- 50K: Features approximately 3,325 feet of elevation gain with a 9-hour time limit.
- 25K: Involves 1,667 feet of elevation gain with an 8-hour time limit.
- 10K: Includes 744 feet of elevation gain with a 3.5-hour time limit.
- 5K: Offers 342 feet of elevation gain with a 3-hour time limit.
The course includes two cup-free aid stations that provide water, electrolyte drinks, fruit, and sweet or salty snacks. Runners are required to bring their own hydration vessels. All participants receive official chip-timed results, a custom finisher award, and a finish line photo. Drop bags are permitted for all distances and are kept at the start and finish area. Crew access is limited to the start and finish line location at Philip S. Miller Park. A portion of the proceeds from the event is designated to support the open spaces and trails of Castle Rock and various partner charities.
