Course
The River of No Return Endurance Runs take place near Challis, Idaho. The 108K and 55K distances start and finish at Challis City Park. The 32K distance is a point-to-point race that starts at the ghost town of Bayhorse and finishes at Challis City Park, with shuttles provided to the start.
The courses travel through remote country, using a mix of trail types including two-track ATV trails, single-track trails, dirt roads, and some pavement. All races finish with a run down Main Street in Challis. The routes pass by historical sites like forgotten mines and the ghost town of Bayhorse.
Distances
- 108K: This distance features approximately 17,600 feet of elevation gain with five significant climbs cresting between 8,000 and 10,000 feet. It has 9 aid stations and a 22-hour time limit.
- 55K: This distance features approximately 8,800 feet of elevation gain with three major climbs over 8,000 feet. It has 5 aid stations and a 12.5-hour time limit.
- 32K: This distance features approximately 4,500 feet of elevation gain. It has 2 aid stations.
Support and Crews
The event is described as crew-friendly, with multiple aid stations accessible by support vehicles without the need for four-wheel drive. Crews are highly encouraged for the 55K and 108K distances and can meet their runners at designated aid stations, as well as run with them down the final stretch on Main Street. Pacers are allowed for the 108K race after mile 36.5. The 32K race does not allow support crews. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
