Ridgefield Public Schools Foundation 10th Annual Turkey Trot
The Ridgefield Public Schools Foundation hosts a community Turkey Trot in Ridgefield that raises funds for scholarships and grant opportunities for students, teachers, and staff. Proceeds from the event are shared equally between the Ridgefield Public Schools Foundation and the Ridgefield Family Resource Center.
The event features two distances:
- Drumstick Dash: short run for ages 5 and under, not yet in kindergarten.
- 5K run/walk along a course that passes Abrams Park and follows Lake River.
The 5K course begins and ends at Union Ridge Elementary School and travels through Abrams Park, along the Gee Creek trail, up Heron Drive to Main Avenue, past the railroad overpass to the Ridgefield waterfront, around the south end of Carty Lake, and back to finish at Union Ridge Elementary via Simons Street.
Roads remain open during the event and vehicle traffic has the right of way; participants may experience brief stops for vehicles and are asked to stay to the right and use sidewalks when possible.
Race packet pick-up and in-person registration occur the day before the event and again on the morning of the event in the Union Ridge Elementary School gym. A limited number of extra T-shirts will be available for purchase onsite for $5. To receive a race T-shirt, participants should register by Wednesday, November 11. Donated nonperishable food items, new socks, or stretchy knit gloves earn one ticket each for a drawing of local restaurant gift cards valued at $100.
