Ridge Runner Coromandel
Ridge Runner is a trail running event held at White Star Station, Colville, Coromandel, on privately owned land with 360 degree coastal views. The event offers two marked courses that use ridgelines, native bush and backcountry trails across varied terrain.
Distances
- 24 km: 1260 m total elevation gain and loss; highest point 527 m
- 12 km: over 500 m of elevation; joins 24 km crew at the Cookie Run
The 24 km course includes new trail sections and a climb to the course high point at about 10 km, followed mostly by descents. The 12 km course begins with flowing trails before a sustained climb and shares part of the route with the longer course.
Water is provided at cupless stations on course at approximately 3 km, 6 km and 9 km, with the Cookie Run aid stop around 5.5 km to go. Entrants choose aid supplies at registration; participants must bring a hydration pack or cup for refills. The event requires specific gear such as off-road shoes, a long-sleeved thermal top, a seam-sealed jacket, a beanie or buff, a whistle and a mobile phone.
Camping at White Star Station is included for one unpowered night with options to add extra nights for a stated fee. Age limits apply: 24 km entrants must be at least 15 years old and 12 km entrants at least 12 years old. Prizes and finishers medals are made from recycled wood collected on site.
