Event overview
The Richmond Park Marathon is a trail marathon held in Richmond Park with a total distance of 26.2 miles. The course comprises three laps: a first lap of 12 miles that follows the park perimeter and cuts through the centre, followed by two laps of 7.1 miles each on the Tamsin Trail. The start and finish area is located close to Sheen Gate on the north side of the park. The event is UK Athletics affiliated and operates as a non-profit, with surplus funds donated to a chosen charity. A cut-off time of 6 hours 30 minutes applies.
Course, facilities and race services
The route is waymarked and a lead cyclist will guide runners; race marshals are stationed at road crossings and junctions. Drink stations offering water and energy gels are located at three points: the start/finish area (Sheen Gate), near Broomfield Hill, and near Ham Gate, giving approximate supply points at about 3, 5.5, 8, 12, 14.5, 17, 19.5 and 22 miles along the course. Race packs are issued on race day and include a timing chip, race number, safety pins, a bag tag and race instructions. Chip timing and a timing clock at the finish are provided. First aid cover and an ambulance response vehicle are on site, and a designated baggage area and toilet facilities are available at Sheen Gate and other park gates. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers and all finishers receive a medal and goody bag. A separate free 3 mile children’s challenge is planned after the first circuit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
