Richmond Park Marathon
The Richmond Park Marathon is a 26.2 mile race held inside Richmond Park and organised by 1 Mile 2 Go Events. The marathon course is made up of three laps: the first lap is 12 miles, and the second and third laps are each 7.1 miles. A separate children’s event follows the first 3-mile circuit and is a 3 mile challenge. The event uses a start / finish area close to Sheen Gate on the north side of the park.
Course, facilities and logistics
The course uses the Tamsin Trail for the two shorter laps and includes routes around the park perimeter and through the park centre. The route is waymarked and accompanied by a lead cyclist, race marshals and signage. Aid and safety provisions include multiple drink stations offering water and energy gels at three main locations, on-course medical cover with an ambulance response vehicle and bicycle support, and a designated baggage area using numbered bag tags. Race packs include a timing chip, race number, safety pins and a bag tag; race numbers must be worn on the front of the running shirt. There is a cut-off time of 6 hours 30 minutes. Available parking near Sheen Gate is limited, with additional parking on Sheen Lane and Fife Road and Roehampton Gate about one mile from the start area. Mortlake Station is the nearest overland train station, about a 15 minute walk from Sheen Gate. Public toilets and temporary portaloos are provided near the start area and at several gates.
