Rez Loop Challenge
The Rez Loop Challenge is a 12 hour event in which participants attempt to complete the 11 mile Ross Barnett Reservoir loop as many times as possible. Each loop starts and finishes at the RunStrong Training Center. Only loops completed within the 12 hour event period count toward results.
The course is almost entirely asphalt and includes a multi-use path, a neighborhood road used as a bike and pedestrian route, a bike lane along a road, and a short stretch of concrete sidewalk. There is very little shade and the terrain varies from hilly to flat. There will be no official on-course support.
At the event base there will be refreshments, food, and shade for recovery between loops. Food offerings listed for the day include pancakes in the morning, sandwiches throughout the day, pizza in the afternoon, cold drinks, water, and snacks. Participants may drop a bag or cooler along the course prior to the event.
Registration opens 3/19/2026 and closes 6/4/2026; the registration fee is $55. Registrants will receive a race t-shirt and original finisher's swag or a custom medal for completing at least one loop. A relay option allows teams of up to three people to alternate loops; the team captain creates the team during registration and teammates join afterward.
All participants are required to have a handheld water bottle or hydration vest or pack at the start of each loop. Each participant must carry a phone or be with someone who has a phone; a contact number will be provided to request transportation back to RunStrong if a participant cannot finish a loop. Summer in Mississippi is noted as extremely hot, and participants are responsible for their own well-being. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
