5k Legacy Run retirement event
This event is a 5k run/walk and a separate celebration held on June 7, 2026 in Ellettsville, Indiana at 7508 N. Woodall Rd. It marks the retirement of a long serving coach after a forty eight year career in cross country and track.
The program includes a 5k run/walk, a postrace celebration and a combined registration option for participants who wish to attend both. There will be a separation between the 5k and the celebration to make the celebration more of a lunch and to let 5k participants who are not attending both clear out so celebration only guests can enter.
Career highlights noted for the retiring coach include 26 cross country sectional titles, 20 cross country regional titles, 14 cross country semi state titles (semi state discontinued in 2023), two cross country state titles in 1980 and 2024, 23 track sectional titles, 18 track regional titles, and multiple individual and relay state champions in track.
The listed registration fee for the 5k is $15 and that fee covers a shirt and a commemorative finisher medal. Donations collected at the event will go toward establishing a new cross country course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
