The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois hosts the 42nd Annual Red Shoe Run & Walk 5K on Sunday, May 3, 2026. The event raises funds and awareness to help keep families close to the care they need. The 5K offers in-person and virtual participation options:

Logistics and features
The course starts and finishes at Lower City Park, 200 Park Rd, Iowa City, IA 52246. Registration pricing for the in-person 5K run and walk is listed at $40, with a reduced rate of $20 for ages 0 to 13; the virtual option is $40. Pricing increases after December 28, 2025. Registration closed for the virtual event on May 3, 2026. Registrants who register by April 1 are guaranteed a run t-shirt; later registrants may receive shirts on a first-come, first-served basis at packet pickup and on race day. On-site features include a kids zone, post-race treats, and awards for top runners in multiple age groups. Strollers and pets on leash are permitted. A course map is available through MapMyRun.
