Red Rock Canyon Ultra
The Red Rock Canyon Ultra is a set of trail races held in the Red Rock National Conservation Area near Blue Diamond, Nevada. Courses start at or route through the Red Rock visitor center area and run across Red Rock and Cottonwood Valley. The terrain passes through Aztec sandstone canyons and washes, past quarry areas, and around limestone formations.
Distances offered:
- 100K
- 50K
- 17K
The 100K course covers the full extent of Red Rock and Cottonwood Valley and reaches the base of a section called Satan's Escalator before finishing in the town of Blue Diamond. Aid stations are placed along the 50K and 100K courses with published locations and cutoff times. The 17K course has no aid station, so participants must carry their own water or hydration system.
Logistics include remote event parking and shuttle service for 50K and 100K participants and on-site parking at the Blue Diamond start for 17K participants and spectators. Drop bag and crew access points are available at several Blue Diamond and backcountry locations. Packet pickup is held the Friday before the event at a downtown location during late afternoon and early evening hours. Organizers provide a Tortoise Information Fact Sheet and participant instructions with detailed course maps and procedures. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
