Red Rock Canyon Ultra : Blue Diamond, NV
The event offers trail races through Red Rock National Conservation Area near Las Vegas, starting at the Red Rock visitor center area and finishing in the town of Blue Diamond. The courses pass through Aztec sandstone canyons and washes, quarries, and limestone formations described as millions of years old. The 100k route spans Red Rock and Cottonwood Valley and reaches the base of a feature called Satan's Escalator.
Aid stations are placed along the 50k and 100k courses with multiple staffed locations and crew access points. Named aid stations include Lost Creek, South Oak Creek, Blue Diamond, Mud Spring, Late Night, Red Valley, and Satan's Escalator, plus designated finish locations. The 17k course does not have an aid station; participants on that course are expected to carry their own water.
Parking and shuttling differ by distance. 50k and 100k participants use a remote event parking area or arrange drop off and pickup; shuttles run to the start with vehicles that hold 36 people. The 17k starts at Blue Diamond Park and does not use the shuttles. Drop bag and crew access locations vary by aid station; some stations have crew access and pacer pickup points, while others have limited space and no crew access.
Course maps, participant instructions, and a tortoise information fact sheet are published for entrants. Packet pickup takes place the Friday before the event at CraftHaus Downtown. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
