Rec Jam 5k
The Rec Jam 5k is a community fundraiser for Waynesville Parks & Recreation held at the Waynesville Recreation Center, 550 Vance Street, on September 26, 2026. The event offers a chip timed 5k and a new untimed Fun Run Loop on the center track.

- 5k: chip timed race, commemorative shirt, race bib, wooden finisher medal
- Fun Run Loop: one lap of the track (.25 mile), untimed, bib and wooden finisher medal
The 5k course starts and finishes at the recreation center. A majority of the route follows a greenway with short dirt path sections and about 60 feet of elevation gain. An aid station with water is located at roughly mile 1.5. Greenways remain open to the public during the race so participants should stay on the right side and watch for vehicle traffic and officers; the course is marked with directional signage.
The Fun Run Loop is an untimed single lap on the facility track. It does not produce official race results or awards and parents and guardians are welcome to run alongside children.
Awards include overall male and female places and age categories such as Masters (40+) and Grandmasters (50+). Parking is available at the recreation center and nearby playground and skate park. The event has a no refund policy; transfers to virtual entry or to another runner or distance are allowed up to five days before the event.
