Rec Jam 5k
Rec Jam 5k takes place on September 26, 2026 at the Waynesville Recreation Center, 550 Vance Street, Waynesville, NC. The event is a fundraiser for Waynesville Parks & Recreation and marks the department's anniversary.
The event offers two options:
- 5k race starting and finishing at the recreation center.
- Fun Run Loop one lap of the Waynesville Recreation Center track, untimed, includes a bib and finisher medal.
The 5k course runs along the nearby greenway and begins and ends at the Waynesville Recreation Center. The course has roughly 60 feet of elevation gain and is described as fairly flat. Walkers are welcome and the route is stroller friendly.
Race services and recognitions are provided as part of registration. 5k registration includes a finisher medal, a unisex short-sleeved commemorative shirt, and chip timing. The Fun Run Loop includes a finisher medal and race bib; there are no awards for the Fun Run Loop. Awards for the 5k include top male and female overall placements and age-based awards for masters (40+) and grandmasters (50+).
Organizers state a no-refund policy. Transfers to a virtual entry, another runner, or a different distance are allowed up to five days before the event. The 5k course is subject to change. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
