Rec Jam 5k
The Rec Jam 5k is scheduled for September 26, 2026 at the Waynesville Recreation Center, 550 Vance Street, Waynesville. The event benefits Waynesville Parks and Recreation as a fundraiser and marks the program’s multi year community presence.
Distances
- 5k race, starts and finishes at the Waynesville Recreation Center
- Fun Run Loop, one track lap (about 0.25 mile), untimed and medal included
The 5k course follows a majority greenway route with some short sections on dirt paths and approximately 60 feet of elevation gain. An aid station with water is located near mile 1.5. Greenways will remain open to other users during the event; participants are asked to stay on the right side of the route and follow directional signage and instructions from on-course personnel.
The Fun Run Loop is a new untimed option that uses one lap of the recreation center track. It includes a bib and a wooden finisher medal, and parents or guardians may run alongside children. The 5k registration includes a commemorative race shirt in unisex sizing and chip timing. Packet pick up occurs at the recreation center on race morning.
Awards are planned for top overall finishers and age categories including masters and grandmasters. Parking is available at the recreation center and nearby playground and skate park. The event maintains a no refund policy and allows registration transfers to virtual entries or other runners up to five days before the event.
