Rec Jam 5k, Waynesville, NC
Rec Jam 5k is scheduled for September 26, 2026, at the Waynesville Recreation Center, located at 550 Vance Street, Waynesville, NC. The event is a fundraiser for Waynesville Parks and Recreation and marks the 26th anniversary of the department.
The primary offering is a 5k road race that starts and finishes at the recreation center and follows a scenic tour of the greenway. The course has about 60 feet of elevation gain and is described as fairly flat. The event welcomes walkers and is stroller friendly.
There is also a Fun Run Loop, consisting of one lap of the Waynesville Rec track. The Fun Run Loop includes a race bib and a finisher medal; parents and guardians may run alongside children.
Registration for the 5k includes a finisher medal, a unisex short sleeved race shirt, and chip timing. The Fun Run Loop includes a finisher medal and a bib. Shirt and finisher medal artwork is noted as coming soon.
Awards are given in overall top positions for male and female finishers and in masters and grandmasters categories. The event organizer maintains a no refund policy; transfers to a virtual runner or to another runner or distance are allowed up to five days before the event.
