Rec Jam 5k
Rec Jam 5k is a fundraiser for Waynesville Parks & Recreation held at the Waynesville Recreation Center, 550 Vance Street, Waynesville, NC, on September 26, 2026. The event marks the 26th anniversary of Waynesville Parks & Recreation and includes a main 5k race and a shorter Fun Run Loop.
The 5k course starts and finishes at the recreation center and follows a scenic route along the greenway. The course has approximately 60 feet of elevation gain and is described as fairly flat. Walkers and strollers are welcome.
Race entries for the 5k include chip timing, a finisher medal, and a unisex short sleeve race shirt. The Fun Run Loop is one lap of the recreation center track and includes a race bib and finisher medal; the Fun Run Loop is untimed and has no awards.
Awards are presented to top finishers with categories for overall male and female places and age group distinctions including Masters (40+) and Grandmasters (50+). Registration transfer options allow moving to a virtual entry or to another runner or distance up to five days before the event.
