RDM Trail Race
The event on May 22, 2027 takes place in Trussville, AL on Cahaba Mountain in the tail end of the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountain range. The start and finish are at the parking lot of the Trussville Senior Citizens Center. The field is capped at 150 competitors.
Distances
- 5M single loop on a technical single track trail
- 5K route uses the same trail with certain sections cut off
Approximately 90% of the route is on trail. The loop includes multiple switchbacks, elevation changes, and varied terrain with roots and rocks. There is one aid station near the halfway point and additional support at the start and finish area. Trail shoes or hiking boots are recommended depending on pace.
Packet pickup occurs at the start and finish area on the morning of the race. 5k and 5 mile bibs will be different colors.
Awards include medals for all finishers. The 1st to 3rd overall male and female finishers in each distance receive a free 24e membership: 1st 12 month, 2nd 6 month, 3rd 3 month. Age divisions are Under 20, 21-35, 36-50, and Masters 50 plus. Overall winners receive only their overall prize. Registering for both distances separately yields a RDM tumbler mug and places official time and awards in the 5 mile results; registering for both to run the combined distance places the runner in the 5 mile awards and includes a hat.
