About the race
The RDM Trail Race in Trussville, AL takes place on Cahaba Mountain and offers off-road trail running over a mostly single track course. The event features two marked distances:
- 5M single loop on technical single track
- 5K uses the same route with portions cut off
About 90% of the course is on trails with multiple switchbacks, elevation changes, and varied terrain including roots and rocks. The start and finish are located in the parking lot of the Trussville Senior Citizens Center. There is one aid station near the halfway point and additional support at the start and finish area. Trail shoes or hiking boots are recommended.
Packet pickup happens at the start and finish area on race morning. Bib colors differ between the 5K and 5 mile fields. The total field is capped at 150 competitors.
Awards include overall and age division prizes. The first through third overall male and female finishers in each distance receive a 24e Membership for 12, 6, and 3 months respectively. All registrants receive a finishers medal. Age divisions are Under 20, 21-35, 36-50, and Masters 50 plus. Registrants who sign up for both distances receive an RDM tumbler mug and their official time and place will be recorded in the 5 mile results.
