About the race
The Rathfarnham 5k is a community road race held in Rathfarnham, Dublin, that forms part of the Dublin 5k championships and includes juvenile races. The event staged a mass 5 km road race plus separate juvenile races at age categories 10, 12 and 14. In 2025 nearly 1,300 runners finished the 5 km event. Prizes and finishers' awards are provided for the juvenile races: the first three finishers receive trophies and all juvenile finishers receive a specially designed medal.
A race T-shirt was produced for the event; in 2026 the first 1,200 participants who collected their race number at registration received the T-shirt as part of their entry. Organisers work with local sponsors and partners. For 2026 the chosen charity is the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. Main sponsors named for 2026 include DNG Rathfarnham and Heritage Credit Union, with a food sponsor and local tidy towns group supporting event operations and cleanup.
