Ranui Adventure Race
Ranui Farm Park holds an annual Adventure Race. The event for 2027 is scheduled for 14 March and is run as a team event with a three hour time limit. Teams are composed of either two or four people and may be mixed gender or single gender. Entry is open to people aged 12 and over; children from nine years may join if at least one adult is in the team. Entry is permitted up to age 80.
The race combines outdoor activities that test navigation and fitness. The core elements include mid-level mountain biking, running or walking, and orienteering or map reading. The programme also features farm-related tasks, puzzles, and quizzes. Past activities have included a golf challenge, archery, a waterslide, an obstacle course, and sheep counting or drafting. Participants should expect varied activities that change from year to year.
A medium level of fitness and moderate mountain bike skills are recommended. Participants are expected to wear sports, walking, or running shoes and to carry the compulsory gear listed by the organisers. Teams can enter as school groups, workplace groups, or informal groups of friends. Fees are listed per person and per team: $50 per person, $100 for a two-person team, and $200 for a four-person team. Discounts of 20 percent and 10 percent apply when booking earlier, subject to the organiser’s terms. Campsites and accommodation are available at Ranui Farm Park with bookings required.
