Rainbow Beach Trail Festival : Rainbow Beach, Queensland
The Rainbow Beach Trail Festival is a trail-running event based at Phil Rogers Park, Rainbow Beach. It is scheduled for 31 July 2027 and offers three race distances:
- Marathon
- Half marathon
- 11 km
The course runs through the Cooloola Coast and features the coloured sand cliffs, beaches, lush forests, perched lakes and the historic lighthouse. Terrain includes single track, fire roads and beach sections. Course markings use reflective orange and silver flagging tape, red arrows at intersections and red crosses to indicate wrong turns. The organisers note the course may change because of bush fires, flooding or harvesting.
Aid and checkpoints: checkpoints 1, 3 and 5 provide water, electrolyte, lollies, fruit and small snacks but no cups; checkpoints 2 and 4 offer minimal water only. The event operates a no-cup policy at checkpoints and there are no drop bags.
Entry and rules: no entries on the day; refunds are available until 17 July 2027 with a $30 administration charge; transfers to another person or event are not permitted. Minimum age limits apply: 12 years for the 11 km, 15 years for the half marathon and 18 years for the marathon. All finishers receive an event memento.
Mandatory and recommended gear: a mobile phone with emergency contacts, race bib worn on the front, water or hydration (minimums are specified for each distance), and a compression bandage. Recommended items include sunscreen, insect repellent, bite and sting treatment, wet weather jacket and maps. GPX and KML course files and maps are provided for each distance.
