About the race
The Rail Trail Run and Ride is an event along the North East Tasmania Rail Trail between Scottsdale and Billycock Hill. It is organised by the Rotary Club of Scottsdale with support from the Launceston Running Club and has been held since 2018. The event includes running and cycling options across a range of distances, and proceeds are directed to maintaining and improving the rail trail. Safety and participant support are provided with multiple hydration and aid stations, a dedicated emergency response team on course, and professional traffic management at road crossings.
Entry includes a personalised entry bib for registrations received by 24 August 2026, a finisher’s medal, and a Rotary Food Van voucher. No on-the-day entries will be accepted in 2026. Event structure for 2026 spans separate days for running and riding and a festival opening at Little Rivers Brewery. Entry periods include Early Bird fees until 24 August 2026 and Late Fees until 16 September 2026.
Pricing varies by distance and by run or ride category. Discounts are available for family entries, multi-day entries, and members of selected running and cycling clubs and associations. Refunds are not available, but free entry transfers are allowed for illness, injury, or travel restrictions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
