Rail Trail Run and Ride : Scottsdale, Tasmania
The Rail Trail Run and Ride is held on the North East Tasmania Rail Trail between Scottsdale and Billycock Hill. The event was established in 2018 and is organised by the Rotary Club of Scottsdale in partnership with the Launceston Running Club. Funds raised go toward the development and ongoing maintenance of the trail.
Events include both running and riding options across a range of distances. Support on course includes multiple hydration and aid stations, a dedicated emergency response team, and professional traffic management at the three Tasman Highway (A3) crossings. Participant inclusions noted for 2026 entries are a personalised entry bib for entries received by 24 August and a finisher’s medal.
The 2026 program is scheduled as follows: festival opening on 18 September 2026, running events on 19 September 2026, and riding events on 20 September 2026. Entry pricing is available in Early Bird and Late periods; Early Bird fees are available until 24 August 2026 and Late fees until 16 September 2026. No on the day entries will be accepted in 2026.
Discounts apply for family entries, multi day entries, and members of selected running and cycling clubs and associations including Launceston Running Club and Tamar Bicycle User Group. If unable to attend because of illness, injury, or travel restrictions, entries may be transferred free to another participant or to the following year; refunds are not available.
