Ragnar Road SoCal
Ragnar Road SoCal is a long-distance relay race that takes participants along the California coast. The course covers a total of 191.3 miles, starting at Silver Strand State Beach in Coronado and finishing at Huntington State Beach. The route passes through several coastal towns, including La Jolla, Encinitas, and Cardiff-by-the-sea.
The event offers three distinct team formats:
- Standard Team: 12 runners completing the course over 2 days and 1 night.
- Ultra Team: 6 runners completing the course over 2 days and 1 night.
- Sprint Team: 5 runners completing a shorter version of the event in 1 day.
Participants run on a course described as moderately challenging with some high elevation gain segments. In the full relay, individual runners cover between 12.6 and 22.5 miles on average, typically split into three different legs for standard teams or six legs for ultra teams.
Major exchange points where team vehicles reunite include NTC Park at Liberty Station and Torrey Pines Gliderport. At these locations, the event provides a festival atmosphere with partner products and demo experiences. The finish line at Huntington Beach features a beer garden and free pizza for participants.
Registration includes team medals, finisher shirts, a gift for the team captain, and various partner samples. Sleeping arrangements during the overnight portions of the race include a combination of indoor and outdoor accommodations.
