About the race
Race to the Rescue is a trail running fundraiser on September 26, 2026, in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, hosted by Strait Area Ground Search and Rescue with the Cape George Trail Association. The event begins at North Shore Fire Hall and finishes at Cape George Lighthouse. It supports the volunteer search and rescue team and their operational needs.
Distances:
- 10 km: 265 m, route from North Shore Fire Hall to Cape George Lighthouse
- 21 km (half marathon): 720 m, looped route finishing at Cape George Lighthouse
The 10 km route follows the Firehall Connector north onto the Lighthouse trail. The 21 km course loops via the Firehall Connector south, Goat trail, Heritage trail, and returns via the Goat trail and Firehall Connector before the Lighthouse trail. Two aid stations with water and a first aid provider serve the 21 km course; the 10 km has one aid station. Timing is manual. Transport from the finish at Cape George Lighthouse back to the start at North Shore Fire Hall is available. Dogs are not permitted during the race but are welcome at the finish area.
Bib pick-up is available Friday, September 25, 2026, 5:00–7:00 PM at Coastal Chiropractic, and Saturday, September 26, 2026, 7:30–8:15 AM at North Shore Fire Hall. The race acknowledges use of North Shore Volunteer Fire Department facilities and offers peer-to-peer and direct donation options to support SAGSAR.
