Race to Space - McMinnville
The Race to Space is a recurring athletic event held on the Linfield University Wellness Trail in McMinnville, Oregon. The course consists of a 1.5-mile loop primarily featuring dirt and bark dust surfaces. The trail is considered non-technical with few obstacles, and the start/finish area is located in the parking lot near the university library.
Participants can choose from a variety of timed formats and unique racing concepts:
- 12-hour, 8-hour, 6-hour, 3-hour, and 1-hour timed races
- 4-loop relief relay for teams of two to four people
- Bingo Run (10, 20, or 30 possible laps)
In the Bingo Run, participants draw a number after completing each lap to match three numbers on their bib. The race concludes for an individual once they have matched all three numbers, though they may continue running until the time limit or lap maximum is reached.
The event features a central aid station providing water, electrolyte drinks, and various snacks. Runners are encouraged to bring reusable cups and can set up personal aid stations or chairs near the course. All finishers receive running socks, and specialized awards are provided for top performers. Profits from the event are donated to local charities.
