Race for Permanent Sanctuary 2026
The Race for Permanent Sanctuary is a community sports event held at Brazos River Park in Sugar Land, Texas. Organized by The Sanctuary Foster Care Services, the event serves to raise funds for foster care support and healing initiatives. Participants can choose from several chip-timed distances:
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
- Kids 1K
The course is located at 18427 Southwest Freeway and is open to runners and walkers of various ages. While strollers are permitted on the course, pets are not allowed. Each child participating in the Kids 1K receives a finisher's medal, and parents have the option to accompany their children during this distance.
The event features a festive atmosphere with music and food available both before and after the races. An awards ceremony is scheduled to take place following the completion of the runs. Pre-race packet pickup is available on the Thursday and Friday leading up to the event at a local branch in Sugar Land, with a limited pickup window also provided on the morning of the race. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions, and no refunds or transfers are provided in the event of cancellation due to weather.
