2026 Race 4 Independence
The event takes place on the Purdue University Fort Wayne campus at Alumni Plaza, 2101 E. Coliseum Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46805. It offers running and walking options on campus with designated alternatives for participants with disabilities.
Distances offered include:
- 5K run/walk on the campus route
- 2.5K walk for individuals
- 2.5K family walk option
- 2.5K wheelchair-accessible route
- 2.5K assisted and low-vision walk options
Registration opens on April 24, 2026 and closes on July 25, 2026. Fees vary by event category. Day-of registration is available online only. Race packets, bibs, and T-shirts will be available on the day of the event.
The event is organized in support of The League, an organization established in 1950 that provides programs and services for people with disabilities across northeast Indiana. The League describes its mission as promoting opportunities that help people with disabilities remain independent or achieve independence.
Parking is available in P2 (Parking Garage 2) near the Walb Student Union. The event is pet-friendly; pets must be leashed. For weather decisions, the race team monitors conditions and may issue notifications through the event app if delays or changes are necessary.
