Race for Independence - Fort Wayne
The Race for Independence at Purdue University Fort Wayne Campus is a community running and walking event that includes a 5K and multiple 2.5K options. The event is organized to support The League, an organization that provides programs and services for people with disabilities and was established in 1950.

- 2.5K walk options including individual, family, wheelchair, ambulatory, and low-vision
The course is based around the Purdue Fort Wayne Alumni Plaza at 2101 E. Coliseum Blvd, located between the Walb Student Union and the Library off Walb Circle Drive. Parking is free in P2 (Parking Garage 2) next to the Walb Student Union. Race packets, bibs, and t-shirts will be available on race day. Day-of-event registration is available online only. Registration opens April 24, 2026 and closes July 25, 2026.
The event accommodates participants with disabilities through designated walk options and seeks to raise awareness and support for local programs. It is pet-friendly; pets must be leashed at all times. In the event of severe or adverse weather, organizers will monitor conditions and provide notifications through the event app; barring severe storms and lightning, the event is planned to continue as scheduled.
