Battleship 12K
The Battleship 12K is a point to point running event in Spanish Fort that finishes at Battleship Memorial Park next to the USS Alabama. The course starts on Old Spanish Trail, turns right past the old chamber of commerce, and runs downhill along the southernmost lane and the emergency lane of Highway 98 to the park.
The event includes patriotic opening ceremonies and the National Anthem. Runners enter the park for a homestretch where small American flags are handed out and civilians, active military, and veterans greet finishers with audible acknowledgments of service. The event was established in 2015 to honor those who have served in the military.
Shuttles return participants from the finish area to the starting area at Spanish Fort Town Center. There is also an Assisted 12K option listed for participants who require assistance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
