Project 13.1 - Rockland Lake State Park

Project 13.1 is a half marathon held on March 21, 2026, at Rockland Lake State Park in Congers, New York. The start and finish are located near Parking Lot #5. The course is USATF and IAAF certified and is described by the organizers as designed for speed.

The route begins with roughly 3/4 mile out, includes a 180 degree turn, passes the start line, and then consists of four clockwise loops around the lake. Tangents will be marked along the course to indicate the most efficient line for each loop.

The event is run in two waves of about 250 runners each to reduce crowding. Each wave includes 5 to 10 pacers and bike escorts. Organizers noted that last year the cutoff for Wave 1 was around a 1:16 goal time, though that may change. The event is structured as a time trial experience with pacers to support runners aiming for sub 90 minute finishes; runners expecting over 90 minutes were still permitted to register but might have less company on course.

All registered participants receive a 2026 Project 13.1 hat from Fractel and a full catered breakfast that includes muffins, fruit, eggs, and waffles. Registration was limited to the first 500 entrants and is reported as sold out with no waitlist offered. A discounted hotel rate was arranged at the Hampton Inn Nanuet for participants.
