About the race
The PrisonBreak Triathlon 2026 is a triathlon event held at Brandvlei Correctional Centre on the shore of Brandvlei Dam near Worcester, Western Cape, South Africa. The event is CTTA/TSA sanctioned and offers multiple race formats including individual and three-person team classes.
Participants can choose from these formats and distances:
- Mini Escape: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run.
- Maxi Escape: 1500 m swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run.
- Aqua Bike Maxi: 1500 m swim, 40 km bike.
- Gang Relay: three-person team options for Mini or Maxi distances.
Entry pricing is listed in South African rand with examples including R1000 for the Mini Escape, R1200 for the Maxi Escape and R1155 for the Aqua Bike. The event is non-drafting and allows TT bikes. Race entries include a timing chip, race number and a goodie bag; finishers receive medals. There is a prize pool valued at R32,000 and event giveaways such as a swim cap and event T-shirt.
