Pride 5K Run / Walk
The San Diego Pride 5K, presented by Front Runners & Walkers San Diego, is a USATF-sanctioned 5-kilometer out-and-back run/walk along the Pride Parade route in Hillcrest. The course starts and finishes at University Avenue and Richmond Street, follows University west, turns south on 6th Avenue into Balboa Park for the turnaround, and returns to the finish. The event uses chip timing and posts results the day of the event and online.

Every participant receives a short-sleeve race shirt and a finisher's medal. Packet pick-up is scheduled on the two days before race day at the LGBT Center in Hillcrest; there is very limited race-day pick-up at University and Richmond Streets. Virtual participants receive their packets by mail the week of July 13.
Race-day amenities include a vendor village, bag/gear check, portable restrooms, and water stations at the start, finish, and one location on the course. A free shuttle serves a remote parking lot at the Old Naval Hospital; parking near the course is limited due to road closures and construction. Baby joggers are permitted but must start behind participants. Bicycles, inline skates, motorized scooters, skateboards, and pets (except service animals) are not allowed.
Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age division across male, female, and non-binary categories. The event supports local charities including The Center’s Youth Housing Project and San Diego Pride Community Grants; 2024 donations totaled $65,000.
