About the race
Pretzel City 5K is a community road race held in Krape Park in Freeport, Illinois. The course starts in the park parking lot near the mini golf and baseball field and follows paths along Yellow Creek, past the Krape Park waterfall and twin caves, over two bridges, out the tree-lined south entrance of the park and back. The route is certified by USA Track and Field (code IL-12088-JW) and is recognized by RRCA.
Chip timing is provided by Tri-3 Timing. Time splits and water stations are available on course. Refreshments and awards take place after the event at the Gunkel Shelter. Packet pickup and on-site registration are handled at the Gunkel Shelter; late registration does not guarantee a shirt.
Registration opens March 1. Fee structure in the source text includes a pre-entry fee with a guaranteed T-shirt and size preference if completed by June 21, a reduced youth rate for ages 0 to 19, a reduced rate for Rockford Road Runners members, and a higher late-registration fee after June 21.
