Porkies Endurance Races
The Porkies Endurance Races take place September 19–20, 2026 in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan, near Ironwood. The event offers long distance trail running through a large wilderness area that includes ridgelines, rocky Lake Superior shoreline, waterfalls, and more than 90 miles of trail.
Distances
- 50 mile
- 100 mile
The course uses a 50 mile loop that is run once for the 50 mile event and twice for the 100 mile event. The route includes sections of the North Country National Scenic Trail and was designed to highlight scenic and demanding terrain rather than fast running.
Runners should expect steep climbs, technical descents, muddy and rocky trail surfaces, and stretches of exposed roots. Some sections are remote with limited access and include night running in deep wilderness conditions. Long periods of solitude are likely, with natural sounds such as wildlife and flowing water.
Aid stations will be placed along the route and stocked with a mix of typical ultra race foods and hot options. Because of the remote nature of parts of the course, crews and pacers are restricted to designated access points. Organizers note that registration is coming soon and that volunteers for aid stations are being recruited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
