The Police Pace is a community running event in Ellicott City that benefits the Howard County Police Foundation and the Howard County Police Department. A portion of registration fees is donated to support programs and needs not covered by the department budget, including youth programs, special equipment, and scholarships. Registration includes a shirt and finisher medal; registering by Aug 15 guarantees a shirt. Typical registration fees range from $35 to $60 for the 5K, $45 to $70 for the 10K, and the 1 Miler is listed at $15. Packet pick up is available the day before the event and on race morning at the venue. Timing uses bib tag chips and live results will be published during the race.
Age and rules: runners must be at least 7 years old for the 5K, 10 years old for the 10K, and any age may run the 1 Miler. Pets, baby joggers and strollers, in-line skates, bicycles, and other non-official wheeled vehicles are prohibited. Awards are given for top finishers in age groups for the 5K and 10K; there are no awards for the 1 Miler. Parking is available inside Centennial Park and along Route 108.
