Overview
The Police Pace 5k, 10k & 1 Miler is a running event that raises funds for the Howard County Police Foundation. A portion of all registration fees supports the Howard County Police Department for special needs, programs, youth initiatives, equipment, and officer scholarships.
Distances
The event offers three race distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- 1 Miler
There is also a 10K Relay option for teams of two people.
Registration and Entry
Registration for the 5K, 10K, and 1 Miler includes a t-shirt and a finisher medal. Registration opens on April 3, 2026, and prices increase periodically. Registration by August 15, 2026, guarantees a shirt. Participants are not permitted to use baby joggers, strollers, in-line skates, bicycles, or other non-official wheeled vehicles. Pets are also prohibited.
Age Requirements
Runners must be at least 7 years old for the 5K and 10 years old for the 10K. The 1 Miler is open to participants of any age.
Location and Schedule
The race takes place at Centennial Park - South Entrance in Ellicott City, Maryland. Packet pickup is available on the day before the race and on race morning. The 5K, 10K, and 1 Miler distances all start at the same time.
Course and Amenities
A course map is available. Two water stations are provided on the run course. Porta-potties are available near the start/finish line.
Awards
Awards are given for the 5K and 10K distances. Categories include overall top finishers (male, female, non-binary) and age group awards. Additional first-place awards are given for specific public service categories, including police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel. There are no awards for the 1 Miler.
