About the race
The Polar Paws Winter Trail Race on January 16, 2027 takes place at Long Point Eco Adventures in St. Williams near Turkey Point on the shores of Lake Erie. The event offers multiple distances over a 5k loop that uses single and double track trails with climbs, rollers, narrow edge sections and bridges.
Distances:
- 5k
- 10k (two loops)
- 25k (five loops)
- 5k Doggo Run (canicross)
Only the 5k and 10k have a dog category; dogs are not permitted in the 25k. Dogs must be leashed no more than six feet, retractable leashes are prohibited, and handlers must pick up waste. Aggressive or dog-reactive animals should not attend. Dogs must be kept on leash at all times pre, post and during the race and should be dressed appropriately for cold weather. Organizers may restrict dog participation for safety if conditions are unsuitable.
There will be one aid station at the start/finish area offering water, Skratch Labs electrolytes and broth. The event is cupless; participants should bring their own cup, bottle or insulated hydration tube. Porta potties will be available on site. Registration and race kit pick up take place on site near the start/finish area. Marshview Patio will be used for registration and post-race food and awards.
All finishers receive handcrafted soap and a bottle of maple syrup; dogs receive paw balm. Top three overall women, men and non-binary finishers in each category receive prizes. Free high-resolution digital photos are included with entry. Pricing varies by registration period from $60 to $90. Registration insurance is available and bib transfers are possible for a $5 fee.
