Polar Paws 2026 is a winter trail running event on January 17, 2026 at Long Point Eco-Adventures, St. Williams, ON, near Turkey Point on the shores of Lake Erie. Distances offered:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- 25 km
- 5 km Doggo Run
- 10 km Doggo Run
The course is a 5 km loop of single and double track with climbing, rollers, narrow sections and bridges. The 10 km is two loops and the 25 km is five loops, allowing repeated passage by the start/finish area. The event includes a separate wave for participants running with dogs and donates a portion of registration to the Simcoe District Humane Society. The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario.
Logistics and rules
Timing and results are provided by CHIPTIME RESULTS. There will be one aid station at the start/finish area with water, electrolytes and snacks. The venue provides indoor washrooms, hot showers and an indoor building for registration, post-race food and awards. This is a 100% cupless event; participants should bring their own drinking vessel or hydration pack with insulated tubing.
Safety and dog rules: traction on shoes is mandatory if trails are icy; snowshoes are not allowed; headphones, strollers and sleds are not permitted. Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, no retractable leashes, and must be leashed pre-, during and post-race. CANICROSS style is preferred and owners must pick up after their dogs. Time limit for completion is 4.5 hours. Awards and finisher items are provided, including medals for top overall finishers and dog-specific finishes.
