Event Overview
The Point of Honor 5k is an annual running and walking event taking place in Downtown Lynchburg, Virginia. This is the event's 17th edition. The primary purpose is to raise awareness for organ and tissue donation and to provide funds for LifeNet Health, an organization involved in the donation process.
Distances and Registration
The event features two main 5K Run & Walk options:
- 5K Run & Walk: Open to participants aged 13 and older.
- 5K Run & Walk - Children: Open to participants aged 8 to 12.
Standard registration for the 5K starts at $30, with prices increasing closer to the event date. A discounted rate of $15 is available for participants aged 12 and under, though this does not include a race shirt. Registration fees are non-transferable and non-refundable. Members of the Lynchburg Road Runners Club can receive a $5 discount through March 21, 2026.
Course and Location
The race headquarters, start, and finish line are located at the Depot Grille at 10 9th Street in Lynchburg. The majority of the 5K course is planned to utilize the Blackwater Creek Trail. However, due to anticipated trail work, the exact 2026 course is still under consideration and a final map will be provided later. The event is chip-timed using disposable race bib technology.
Participant Information
The event welcomes walkers but prohibits pets and strollers. Assisted participants (individuals being pushed in an approved stroller) are welcome; both the participant and pusher must register, and they will start before the main 5K and be ranked separately. T-shirts are guaranteed for those registered by March 1, 2026.
Awards and Packet Pickup
Awards are given in several categories based on chip time:
- Top 3 overall male and female.
- Top male and female master (40+).
- Top 3 male and female in standard five-year age groups.
