Platrand Hoof and Horn : uMnambithi, KwaZulu-Natal (28–30 August 2026)
Platrand Hoof and Horn is a three day outdoor event at Platrand Lodge on Fouries Kraal Farm near uMnambithi. The programme mixes trail running, mountain biking and a guided full moon walk along routes that pass monuments related to the Battle of Platrand. The area is bushveld and participants may encounter wildlife such as kudu, giraffe, eland, nyala, impala and occasionally a python.
The event includes multi-day stage formats and single-day options. Distances include:
- PLAT-run Day 1: 21 km and 11 km; Day 2: 10 km
- Voorlaaier MTB Day 1: 40 km; Day 2: 20 km
Several accommodation and entry packages are available, including deluxe and standard lodge rooms, weekend packages for two people and local options that do not include lodging. Most packages list meals for the weekend, a complimentary goodie bag, on-site medical support and live entertainment. Saturday features a market with game food stalls and vendors, and Sunday concludes with a prize giving that awards the top three in each category. Certain classes accept team entries; teams must consist of four participants. The event notes a typical participant age range of 12 and above.
