Platrand Hoof and Horn
Platrand Hoof and Horn is a multi day outdoor event at Platrand Lodge on Fouries Kraal Farm near uMnambithi in KwaZulu-Natal. The programme combines trail running, mountain biking and a guided full moon walk that follows monuments related to the historic Battle of Platrand. A guest speaker accompanies the full moon walk to provide historical context along the route.
The event is organised as a two day stage run called PLAT-run and a two day mountain bike event called Voorlaaier MTB. Options include single day entries and packages that bundle accommodation, meals and weekend access to on-site entertainment. On-site medical support and participant goodie bags are provided for most entry options. Saturday evening features a Wildskos food market with game dishes and other food stalls, plus vendors offering clothing and gifts. The weekend finishes with a prize giving awarding the top three participants in each category.
Several entry types accommodate those staying at the lodge and locals who sleep at home. Team entries are available for selected classes and must consist of four participants per team. Distances and specific package combinations are listed for runners and riders. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
