Pink October Race for Awareness 5K
The event is a community 5K run organized by Yuba-Sutter Pink October to raise funds for local support of women with female forms of cancer. Entry to the run is free.
Activities and amenities include early bag pick-up at Geweke Ford on the Friday before the event and a pancake breakfast held at Geweke Ford after the run. The event encourages participants to wear pink and is described as family friendly; children and dogs are welcome.
The venue is Geweke Field / Geweke Ford Kia at 871 E. Onstott Road in Yuba City. Parking is available at Gray Avenue School or at Geweke Ford Kia, and carpooling is encouraged.
Proceeds benefit Geweke's Caring for Women Foundation. The foundation provides local financial assistance of up to $3,000 to women battling female forms of cancer. Since the foundation began in 2006, it has returned over $1.6 million to the Yuba-Sutter community and has helped more than 618 women. The foundation works with local medical partners including Sutter Health and Adventist Health on imaging and related services. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
