Pine Lake Triathlon - Haines Junction
The second annual Pine Lake Triathlon takes place at Pine Lake / Tsi Man beach in Haines Junction, Yukon. The event combines a swim, a bike section on mixed surfaces, and a run along a paved trail.
Distances
- 1 km swim
- 23 km bike
- 6 km run
The triathlon is volunteer run and self supported, with safety checkpoints along the route. Search and Rescue boats will be on the water during the swim. Participants are required to carry bear spray for the bike and run portions.
The bike course follows a dirt logging road before joining the highway; a hybrid or gravel bike is recommended. Bikes can be dropped off in advance on the far side of the lake, where volunteers will monitor a transfer station and the bike drop prior to the run. The run follows the paved Trans Canada trail back to the campground.
The event is open to solo competitors and teams of two or three. Registration is CA$44.09 per person and includes a T shirt, a sticker, hot dogs or hamburgers, and some prizes. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver in person the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
