Event Details
The Pincushion Hill Climb takes place at the S. Finegold Picnic Area in Friant, California, at the end of Sky Harbor Road. It consists of two separate challenges.
The Hill Climb
The main event is a timed hill climb over a distance of one mile. It starts at the San Joaquin River Trailhead and finishes at the top of Pincushion Mountain. All participants receive a custom finisher award. T-shirts are available for an additional fee. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as age group winners.
Mountain Goat Edition
A separate "Mountain Goat Edition" offers runners the chance to complete multiple ascents. The first trip up the one-mile course is timed for the main event ranking. Participants then have until 12 p.m. to complete as many additional round trips as possible, for a total of four hours. At least two total trips to the peak are required. The first descent must follow a longer route of just over 1.5 miles; subsequent descents may use the ascent route. Participants receive a special finisher award, and the top male and female runners in this category win an additional prize. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
