Pick and Mix

Event Information

The 10th Pick and Mix is a walking event organized by the LDWA Beds, Bucks and Northants group. The objective is to complete a chosen total distance by combining loops of 10, 8, and 6 miles. A 5 mile wheelchair-friendly walk is also available. The routes use field paths, tracks, woods, and streams in undulating countryside with views of the Chilterns.

The event takes place at Wendover Memorial Hall in Wendover. Registration at the hall opens at 07:30, with a rolling start from then. The last initial registration is at 11:00, and all participants must finish by 18:00. Wendover Rail Station is a 15-minute walk from the start. Parking is available in a school next to the hall.

Logistics and Rules

Entry fees are £10 for LDWA members, £13 for non-members, and free for under-18s (who must be accompanied by an adult). Entries open on 1 March 2026 and close on 31 March 2026. From entry opening until 31 March, priority is given to LDWA members. Entries open to all from 12:00 on 1 April 2026. There will be no entries on the day.

The entry fee includes drinks and food at the headquarters between loops and at the finish. Food will be provided for vegetarians and meat eaters; vegan food may be available but is not guaranteed. Participants must download and print their own route descriptions in advance, as they will not be available on the day. GPX files and route descriptions will be available on the organizer's website from 25 May 2026. A compass and a personal mug are required, as mugs will not be supplied.

Dogs are allowed on the event but must be on a lead at all times and are not allowed in the headquarters (except assistance dogs). All finishers receive a certificate, and a badge is available on request. A certificate and badge are also awarded for completing the organizer's triple challenge (this event, the Hannington Hike, and the Chiltern Kanter).
