Event overview
The Pelee Island Winery Half Marathon is a single-day race held on Pelee Island, Ontario, Canada. The event takes place around the island and finishes at the Pelee Island Winery. Entry is limited to approximately 400 participants. Registration is charged in Canadian dollars and includes a long-sleeve recovery hoodie, an award medal, a bib, and one ticket to the finish-line luncheon and wine tasting. The event has a no refund policy.
Course and services
The course runs roughly 7/8 around the island in a counterclockwise direction, starting near the winery and finishing inside the winery pavilion. The surface is a mixture of paved roads, gravel, and tar and chip. Aid stations are provided about every 2 km and include a Port-A-John with hand sanitizer, water, electrolyte drink, and a runner aid kit with Vaseline and bandages. A water station at about 10 km carries GU.
Logistics and travel
Race kit pick-up is inside the Pelee Island Winery Pavilion at 20 East West Rd and is available on the Friday before the race and on race morning. Travel to the island requires a ferry from the Leamington terminal; sailings take about 1.5 hours and all travel requires advance reservation through the ferry operator. Additional travel options include limited sailings from Sandusky and small-airport access to the island. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
