Pelee Island Winery Half Marathon 2026 : event description
The event is a half marathon held on Pelee Island, Ontario, in Lake Erie, finishing at Pelee Island Winery. Registration is limited to approximately 400 participants, is charged in Canadian dollars, and the event has a no refund policy. Accommodation inventory on the island is reduced compared with before the pandemic.
The course runs mostly around the island in a counterclockwise direction, starting near the winery and finishing inside the winery pavilion. Surfaces are mixed: the first 5 km are paved with tar and chip, the next 8 km are gravel on the east side of the island, and the final 8 km return to paved roads toward the finish.
Aid stations are placed at approximately 2 km intervals. Each station includes a portable toilet with hand sanitizer, water, an electrolyte drink, and a runner aid kit with Vaseline and bandages. The water station at the 10 km mark provides GU energy products.
Registration includes a wine inspired long sleeve recovery hoodie, an award winning medal, a bib, and one ticket to the finish line luncheon and wine tasting at the winery. Race kit pick up takes place inside the Pelee Island Winery pavilion at 20 East West Rd on the day before the race and on race morning. Travel to the island requires ferry reservations from Leamington and the ferry crossing takes about 1.5 hours; fees apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
