Peaks & Trails 8 & 9 August 2026 : Dunkeld, Grampians
Peaks & Trails is a community run trail running event based in Dunkeld on the southern edge of the Grampians National Park. The weekend includes multiple measured courses that use sections of the Grampians Peaks Trail and privately owned tracks normally closed to the public. Courses were measured using GPS technology but may vary with track approvals or extreme weather.
Track surfaces vary widely, including river flats, open woodland, loose rocky singletrack, 4WD track, sand and tree roots. The use of hiking poles is strongly discouraged. Strollers and prams are not permitted. Several longer distances require mandatory gear and participants are encouraged to be physically prepared for off‑trail conditions. August conditions in the Western District can include mud, water and slippery surfaces.
Distances offered:
- 6.4 km out-and-back on gravel, grass and river flats
- 13.5 km includes summit of Wurgarri Mt Sturgeon; 464 m elevation gain
- 20 km includes summits of Bainggug and Wurgarri; 741 m elevation gain
- 33 km 1,080 m elevation gain; summits of Bainggug and Mud-Dadjug; 730 metre roadside link
- 50 km summits of Wurgarri, Bainggug, Mud-Dadjug and Signal Peak; 2,057 m gain
- Mud-Dadjug Challenge 3.1 km ascent to summit; 430 m elevation gain; staggered start
