Peaks & Trails is a challenging trail running event held in Dunkeld, within the scenic Grampians National Park, also known as Gariwerd. The event offers five distances ranging from a 6.4km introductory run to a demanding 50km ultra marathon, including a unique Mud-Dadjug Challenge. Courses traverse diverse terrains such as river flats, woodlands, rocky single trails, and private lands usually inaccessible to the public.
Runners experience stunning views of the southern peaks—Wurgarri (Mt Sturgeon), Bainggug (Piccaninny), Mud-Dadjug (Mt Abrupt), and Signal Peak. The event is community-run, respects Indigenous cultural connections, and encourages preparedness for variable, often muddy winter conditions.
