48th Annual Parkersburg Turkey Trot

The Parkersburg Turkey Trot is a long-standing athletic tradition in Parkersburg, West Virginia, held annually on Thanksgiving Day. Established in 1979, the event takes place within the grounds of City Park. Participants follow a course measuring 3 miles, which can be completed as a run or a walk. The event has a registration fee and includes various commemorative items for participants who sign up within the designated registration periods.

The first male and female finishers to complete the course receive a large fresh turkey and a specialized hooded sweatshirt. All registered runners and walkers are entered into a random drawing for over 50 door prizes, with the winning names displayed at the conclusion of the event. Official event shirts are provided to participants, though availability is guaranteed only for those who register early.

Registration and packet pickup are located at the Wood County Rec Building within City Park. These services are available on the Wednesday prior to the holiday as well as on the morning of the event. The race serves as a gathering for the local community and visitors, maintaining a consistent format of friendly competition and physical activity to begin the holiday morning.
