About the race
The memorial community run and family-friendly event takes place in downtown Lucedale, Mississippi, on March 6, 2027, at 4282 Main Street with the start and finish located in Century Bank parking. The event honors the life and work of a local runner and mental health activist and supports a foundation that promotes balance between physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Event distances include:
- 3.1 miles : Memorial 5K run/walk
- 1 mile : Fun Run for kids and kids at heart
- 3.1 miles : Virtual 5K with mailed T-shirt option
Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, March 5, 2027, at a realty office at 502 Ratliff St., Lucedale, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Registration opens October 30, 2026; in-person race registration closes January 1, 2027, the virtual 5K registration closes March 2, 2027, and the shirt-only option closes February 27, 2027. Registration fees vary by option and include a shirt and swag bag for most paid entries.
Medals are awarded to age-group winners and all children in the fun run receive medals. In-person registrants who register by March 1, 2027, are guaranteed a shirt; virtual registrants must be registered by February 1, 2027, to receive a mailed T-shirt. Proceeds support the Balanced Life Foundation for mental health awareness and local scholarships, including a scholarship for Distinguished Young Women of Lucedale.
