Outrun the Rays 5k Walk/Run takes place in Peosta, Iowa on May 16, 2026. The event is organized at the Peosta Community Center, 7896 Burds Rd, Peosta, IA 52068. The main competition is a 5k that starts and finishes at the Peosta Community Center and will be timed and scored by J3 Timing. A Kids' Fun Run is offered for children aged 9 and under; this kids race will not be professionally timed and will award medals to the top three finishers in both boys and girls categories.

Registration and additional activities
Standard registration for the 5k includes an event t-shirt; a surcharge applies for 2XL sizes. Early entry fees are listed at $25 for the 5k and $15 for the Kids' Run, with higher fees for late or same-day entries and no guarantee of a shirt for late registrants. Onsite packet pickup is available. Organizers invite families and friends of melanoma warriors to participate together and wear team t-shirts in honor of a loved one. A separate bike ride begins at Darkbird Taphouse in Peosta and offers two route options - 24 miles or 38 miles - with entry by free-will donation.
