14th Annual Outrun the Cops 5K Run/Walk
This event offers a timed 5K run/walk and a 10K run that begin and end at the Gurnee Police Department, located at 100 N. O'Plaine Road, Gurnee IL 60031. The majority of the course follows the Des Plaines River Trail, which is surfaced with crushed limestone. Aid stations are positioned along the trail with water and sports drinks, and water, sports drinks, and snacks are provided at the finish area.

- 10K (6.22 miles)
- 5K Youth
- 10K Youth
Online registration closes at midnight on Wednesday, June 24. In-person registration and packet pick-up are available at the Gurnee Police Department in the days before the event, and packets are also available on race day. Entry fees listed by the organizer are $45 for the 5K and $55 for the 10K; youth entries are free in the available youth categories. A race T shirt is included for adults who register by June 1. Children 10 and under are free with a paid adult registration.
Medals are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers in these age groups: 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over. Local police officers participate and line up at the rear of the race. Free parking is available at the Warren High School O'Plaine Campus. The event is organized by the Gurnee Fraternal Order of Police Social Lodge #266 in collaboration with the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center; proceeds benefit the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center and other local charities.
