OUTLAST Salt Lake City
OUTLAST is a six-hour trail endurance challenge held in Herriman, Utah. Participants run a 5K loop every hour; each lap must be completed within the hour to remain in the event. Runners who finish early may rest until the next round; runners who miss a lap are removed from the event.
Each course is trail-based with natural terrain, elevation, and variable conditions, and can include dirt, rocks, roots, occasional pavement, and gravel. There is time between rounds to recover, refuel, and refocus. Aid at the basecamp or loop start provides water, basic hydration, and snacks; the event is cupless, so participants must bring their own bottle or hydration system. Participants may set up a personal tent or aid station.
Progress rewards include a “Grit Earned” patch for four laps, a “Survivor” patch for five laps, and a premium OUTLAST medal for completing all six laps. All participants receive an OUTLAST tee. At each event the top male and female with the fastest combined 5K times earn the 1st Place OUTLAST award. Finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard; the fastest runner across all OUTLAST six-hour events is crowned National Champion and receives a $1,000 prize.
Top five male and female six-hour champions from each city earn a spot in the Outlast Championship in DFW on December 4, 2027, where championship prize money is listed for first through third place. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
